不定式和不定式短語作目的狀語

1. 位置的不同

(not) to do

in order (not) to do

so as (not) to do 只能位于句尾

We study hard to/in order to/so as to make progress.

=To /In order to make progress, we study hard.

I have written it down in order not to forget./so as not to forget.

2. 不定式與目的狀語從句的轉(zhuǎn)換

They started early in order to/so as to get there in time.

=They started early in order that/so that they could get there in time.

=In order that they could get there in time, they started early.

      in order that, so that 都可以引導目的狀語從句，in order that 既可以放句首，也可以放句末，而so that 只能放在句末。

1. ____ (make) sure he had shut the windows, Tom returned to check them carefully.

2. Go to bed right away. Forget you need to get up as early as you can _____ (catch) the early train?

3. In order _______ (not be) late for class, I got up early and tried to catch the first bus.

4. _____ keep fit, she takes exercise every day.
